Douglas C. Greene
Douglas C. Greene is an inventor, entrepreneur, educator, and philanthropist whose career spans more than six decades of innovation, leadership, and purposeful disruption. A graduate of Marietta College with degrees in Business, Science, and Art, Greene began his professional journey in the executive training program at Sears, Roebuck and Co., where he spent thirteen years rising through multiple managerial roles. During his tenure, he led entrepreneurial catalog/retail initiatives, introduced landmark products such as the radial tire and DieHard battery, and revolutionized the glass-door firescreen industry with a groundbreaking sizing program that generated nearly two million units in its first year.
In 1975, Greene left corporate life to pursue entrepreneurship, founding and scaling multiple companies across manufacturing, technology, and global sourcing. His most notable innovation, the SKYTECH remote-control systems for gas fireplaces and logs, became an industry standard throughout North America and Europe. His inventive work also includes energy-saving technologies, infrared light applications, and humanitarian solutions such as repurposed shipping-container housing.
Recognized as a visionary disruptor, Greene has dedicated fourteen years to teaching entrepreneurship and inspiring students nationwide. Together with his wife Heather, he has funded over sixty scholarships and established Skilled Trades Centers to restore hands-on vocational education in high schools. Honored with an honorary Doctorate in Business, Greene lives by his guiding principle: “Risk is the price you pay for opportunity.”
